Working Toward More Sustainable Tourism in Costa Rica

Sealounge Catamaran is working toward certification through Costa Rica's Sustainable Tourism Certification (CST) program. This initiative recognizes tourism businesses that incorporate sustainability into their operations and encourages continuous improvement in environmental protection, social well-being, cultural preservation and responsible economic development.

This process represents our commitment to strengthening the responsible practices that have guided our relationship with Playa Fantasia and the surrounding coastal environment.

From a neglected beach to a protected paradise.

In 2005, Playa Fantasia faced serious environmental problems. It was practically an abandoned wildlife refuge that resembled an open-air garbage dump. It took two years of effort just to clean up the amount of plastic waste and trash. Through years of restoration, conservation efforts, and a constant commitment to sustainability, Sealounge Catamaran helped transform Playa Fantasia and five other beaches in the central Pacific. Today, every excursion not only creates unforgettable memories but also supports the preservation of this extraordinary place for future generations.

The Ecological Blue Flag is one of the world's most recognized environmental awards. It represents our ongoing commitment to preserving Playa Fantasia through sustainability, education, safety, and conservation efforts.
