The story of Sealounge began when founder Randall Duran discovered Playa Fantasia while exploring the Costa Rican coast aboard the Sealounge catamaran.

About Sealounge Catamaran
Sealounge Catamaran was born from a love for Costa Rica's Pacific coast, but our story became about much more than sailing.
It is a story about discovering an extraordinary place, witnessing how vulnerable it could be, deciding to do something about it, and eventually building a tourism experience around the belief that paradise is worth protecting.
Today, Sealounge Catamaran welcomes travelers from around the world to experience Playa Fantasia — a secluded tropical beach surrounded by nature within the Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Mixto Ara Macao on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast.

2012
REALIZATION
Years later, Randall noticed something different. The place he remembered was showing signs of deterioration. Garbage and debris had accumulated along the coastline.
“For him, it became personal.”
2012–2014
ACTION
People Thought I Was Crazy.
Randall started cleaning the beach. There was no company environmental program behind it. There was no award to win. Nobody was paying him.
“Why spend your own money cleaning a public beach when nobody is paying you?”
For approximately two years, he invested his own time, effort and resources into cleaning and helping restore Playa Fantasia.
2015
SEALOUNGE
In 2015, Randall began sailing the Sealounge Catamaran to Playa Fantasia, sharing a place he had come to appreciate along Costa Rica’s coast. Rather than following the typical tourist routes, he set out to create a different kind of experience — one centered around Playa Fantasia and the belief that tourism can be a force for good.

Today, Sealounge Catamaran welcomes travelers from around the world to experience Playa Fantasia — a secluded tropical beach within the Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Mixto Ara Macao.
